Mainly used in high technology areas, high performance plastics are made to resist extreme environments. Easy to transform, most of them have excellent antibacterial and/or thermal properties. They are used for mechanical and precision parts as well as for electric, electronic and medical components. In addition to materials in-use, they can be reinforced with different additives in order to have higher degrees of resistance to chemicals, wear, radiations and overloads.

PBT (Polybutylene Teraphthalate)

PBT is mostly used for gears, electronic components, sports equipment and medical components. It is used in the automotive, chemical and mechanical engineering industries.

PBT is a thermoplastic polyester that has good impact resistance, is economical and easy to utilize. It is known for its rapid crystallization, stiffness and electrical insulating properties. This product has a excellent chemical and thermal resistance as well as a high resistance to rubbing (friction) and to wear. It also has a superior dimensional stability, a low water absorption rate and is easy to colour.

The physical and technical characteristics of PBT can be modified allowing the material to be easily adapted to a wide range of industrial applications. PBT eases post-molding operations as well as printing, painting, stamping and laser-marking.There are more than 30 different PBT formulations, among which 50 % are nonflammable. Other formulations show a high resistance to arching.
