Acetal is a synthetic polymer derived from formalin having good mechanical and wear properties as well as an excellent resistance to abrasion.
Acetal is used within industrial machinery to reduce wear on moving parts and is often manufactured into bushings. It is also utilized in the medical, food and optical industries.
Acetal is offered in black or white (FDA approved). It is slippery, stiff and hard. It is known for its excellent machinability, low coefficient of friction and very low moisture absorption.
Acetal is comparable to nylon and brings excellent value. Two general types of acetal products are available: homopolymer acetal or copolymer acetal. Delrin AF® is also available.
Acetal is sold in standard and customized dimensions. Strips are available upon request.
