Teflon

Teflons are made of a fluoride plastic which is highly resistant to chemical substances as well as having an outstanding thermal stability at high temperature and a low friction coefficient. Note that Teflon® is also the product trademark and that of the manufacturer who invented it: Dupont Teflon®.

PTFE (virgin teflon)

PTFE (virgin Teflon®) is used for bearings, bushings and gears in high temperature and electrical applications. It is also used as a sealing tape for waterproof assemblies as well as a non-stick coating for frying pans and other kitchen cookware. Futhermore, PTFE is used to manufacture computer mice, waterproof shelters and in electronics for electric insulation and high voltage wiring.

Semi-opaque or white, PTFE is a fluoride, semi-crystalline that is flexible, soft and an easily moldale polymer. It is well known for its stretch capacity, it excellent dielectric properties and its resistance to most chemicals. Its has a low friction coefficient of friction,, high thermal performance (500°F) and high organic purity as a fluoropolymer.

Teflon® can be chemically treated to allow for engraving or can have additives such as glass, glass fiber (fiberglass), graphite, bronze and many others. Available Teflon® grades are PTFE, FEP, MFA, PFA, PVDF, ETFE, ECTFE, PCTFE and PVF. Please, note that for PVDF tubes and rolls must be specialty ordered.

Teflon® is sold in standard and customized dimensions. The heat deflecting coating available on PTFE has different ratios such as 4: 1 and 2: 1 while the FEP ratio is 1.6: 1 and 1.3: 1
