Nylons are thermoplastics from the polyamide family. They are extremely resistant to shock, traction, chemical attacks and to wear. Nylon's resistance makes it an ideal material for mechanical parts.
Natural Type 6 and Type 6/6 nylons are ideal for gears, supports, mechanical parts, pulleys and components on food, bottling and printing equipment.
Natural Type 6 and Type 6/6 nylons are very hard and slippery materials with good mechanical properties. They are wear resistant, with a high compression to tolerance. Type 6 is "poured (cast)" and the Type 6/6 is extruded. The standard colour for natural nylons is a creamy white-beige. Nylons Type 6 and Type 6/6 are FDA approved.
Natural Type 6 and Type 6/6 nylons are frequently used for food applications since nylons with additives are more wear resistant offering better performance (MoS2 / Nyloil®) for the same price.
Natural Type 6 nylon is sold in standard and customized dimensions. It is also available in rod and tube.
