UHMW are slippery materials which resist abrasion and compression. Few products can adhere to them and their thermal expansion is superior to other thermoplastics. Relatively malleable, they are excellent electric insulators and they can be welded by a thermoplastic welding process. Models are available in colours and formats such as natural (white), antistatic, UV resistant autolubricating, recycled and high-temperature. In standard form, their heat resistance is 82 °C (180 °F).
UHMW Tivar® 88 is utilized for machinery components, anti-wear plates, truck liners and guides It is frequently used for components in mining processing equipment, pulp and paper mills, as well as the agricultural industry.
UHMW Tivar® 88 is dark blue, shiny and slippery. It has a high resistance to abrasion, impact and corrosion. It is also known for its low coefficient of friction and self-lubricating.
UHMW Tivar® 88 is a special formulation of UHMW. Its entangled molecular chains contain a self-lubricating agent provides a greater resistance to abrasion and superior dimensional stability. Tivar® 88-2 (weldable) and the Tivar® 88 with Burnguard (fire resistance) are also available.
UHMW Tivar® 88 is sold in standard and customized dimensions.
