UHMW are slippery materials which resist abrasion and compression. Few products can adhere to them and their thermal expansion is superior to other thermoplastics. Relatively malleable, they are excellent electric insulators and they can be welded by a thermoplastic welding process. Models are available in colours and formats such as natural (white), antistatic, UV resistant autolubricating, recycled and high-temperature. In standard form, their heat resistance is 82 °C (180 °F).
UHMW Ceram P® is used for guides, wear parts and other components within machinery to reduce abrasion and prolong equipment life. It is frequently used in the mining, forestry and food & beverage industries.
UHMW Ceram P® is a lime-green material that was designed for applications with high load, high speed and severe sliding abrasion. Like other UHMW materials, Ceram P® is known for its self-lubrication, its low coefficient of friction and its resistance to impact and low temperatures. It is a slippery material, that is easy to machine, and is abrasion and chemical resistant.
UHMW are offered in various formulations : 90, SXL, SL and TL, Tivar® 1000 (antistatic, recycled), Tivar® 88 (Ceram P® and special DS), DrySlide®, Dock Guard, CleanStat™, Rubber Backed, EXP and many others. Self-adhesive tapes are also available.
UHMW are sold in standard and customized dimensions.
