CORRUGATED PLASTIC’S ADVANTAGES AND APPLICATIONS
Coroplast® is a brand name, as well as the name of the company that helped make this substrate popular. Did you know that the now international Coroplast company was founded in Quebec?
To broaden your search, you can also use the generic terms “corrugated plastic” or “fluted polypropylene.” The honeycomb structure in the middle makes the plastic very lightweight, while keeping it rigid. This gives it many advantages.
COLOURS AND SIZES
While white is very popular, corrugated plastic is offered in 15 or so colours, which vary by manufacturer. It can be purchased in sheets of different sizes, up to 12 feet long and 10 mm thick.
ADVANTAGES OF USING CORRUGATED PLASTIC
Corrugated plastic is the perfect blend of rigidity and lightness. It is sturdier than corrugated cardboard and lighter than a sheet of extruded plastic. It can withstand the elements, humidity and most solvents. It is even grease-stain and rodent-resistant! Easy to cut, it can be folded, drilled and cut with a punch. And most interesting of all, it is very affordable.
In short, corrugated plastic
- Is ultralight
- Is durable for outdoor use
- Has countless applications
- Offers unbeatable durability for cost
WHAT IS CORRUGATED PLASTIC USED FOR?
Corrugated plastic is great for temporary displays. It is used mainly for electoral posters and indoor and outdoor signage. But that’s only the tip of the iceberg. A quick online search will yield countless genius ways this material is used.

MYTH DEBUNKED
Contrary to what most people think, it is possible to print directly on the surface of corrugated plastic, once it has undergone electrostatic treatment (corona-treated).
