HOT OR COLD PLASTIC BENDING DEPENDING ON THE MATERIAL AND APPLICATIONT
All thermoplastics can be hot bended. Cold bending can be used for all plastics with a minimum bending radius.
Hot bending
Thermoplastic bending is done using heated tools for bending and angle forming. When heat is applied, the solid material warms up and becomes malleable, allowing to make a bend. The desired bend angle is obtained using a template.
Cold bending
Some plastics, such as polycarbonate and PETG can, under certain conditions, be cold bended on a press brake. This technique provides a very straight bend and help to avoid irregular curvature (banana).
