High light transmission and strong outdoor facilities to get the best out of the summer season

The arrival of sunny days means it is time to make the necessary repairs and maintenance on gazebos, carports, greenhouses, patios and decks, outdoor kitchens and sunrooms.

Indeed, mother nature could get tough on such facilities and whether it is to repair a break or because the material has reached its useful lifetime, these may need to be replaced to enjoy summer as much as possible.

A wide range of products of varying quality are available, but all plastics are not equal, just as there are several manufacturers and each one has its strengths and weaknesses. And that is not counting the lower grade products that are flooding the market.

These plastic products include a number of advanced features which will meet the requirements for the building of these facilities, in accordance with the relevant building codes.

Brightness, durability, toughness, transparency and aesthetics are all factors to consider when the time comes to choose the materials for the building or repair of these types of facilities.

Both multiwall polycarbonate and multiwall acrylic sheets are easy to install and meet the requirements for new construction as well as for renovation work in a variety of applications like gazebos, car shelters, greenhouses, patios and decks or outdoor kitchens and sunrooms.

To have a better understanding, here is a comparison chart:

Multiwall Polycarbonate Sheet

Multiwall polycarbonate sheet has cellular multilayer structure that helps provide better thermal insulation. Polycarbonate combines toughness and lightweight and is 250 times more resistant to impact than glass. Transparent panels allow high light transmission while providing good resistance to weathering and UV rays.

Multiwall Acrylic Sheet

Just like the polycarbonate multiwall sheet, multiwall acrylic sheet has a cellular multilayer structure that helps provide better thermal insulation. Stiffer than the polycarbonate, the multiwall acrylic sheet is 17 times more resistant to impact than glass. An impact grade formulation will increase its impact strength to 150 times.

Glass Sheet

Indeed, the traditional materials like glass are suitable for these applications by offering excellent optical properties. However, glass sheet is heavier, displays lower impact resistance and purchasing and installation costs are often more expensive.
